If the airbag/seatbelt pre-tensioner light stays on it does not always mean there is a problem with the airbag system .
It is a well known fact that it might be the large black connector under the drivers or passenger seat (or both) that has slightly pulled apart causing a bad connection .
The reason why this happens is as follows .
1 - moving the seats backwards and forwards for access or loading
2 - the seats have been removed or replaced with a different interior or re-trim
3 - something wedged under the seat ie can, pop bottle toys etc .
The repair for this problem is to make sure there is no ignition on ,then disconnect the large black connector under the seat, spray the contacts inside with WD40 or simular then put the two halves back together .
Once you have done this you will need to put a cable tie around the two halves and pull them together tightly, this will stop the two halves seperating again and should be a perminant repair .
You will then need to go to the main dealer to have your airbag/seat pre-tensioner light put out on tech2 . this cannot be done by using the paperclip test .
Once this is done the light will come on when the ignition is first switched on and then go out .If the light stays on there may well be a problem with the airbag system or pre-tensioners themselves .
