The vauxhall fuel filter supplied on the vectra b models has a very fine paper element inside it and becomes blocked very quickly .
Vauxhall quote a change of filter every 20,000 miles but over that period of time the filter will have lost near all of its filtering capability and will be blocked which will restrict fuel flow to the oinjectors giving a lack of performance which over time you will have become accustomed to .
By changing the fuel filter the car will feel like it has a new lease of life .
Putting optmax or vpower fuels in does not seem to help as far as stopping the blocking of the filter but will help with performance as a whole .
Dont be tempted to run the petrol tank down to the red as this will only drag sediment though the system and block the filter further making the situation worse .
If you can only run the tank down to 15 litres then fill up . This will help the filter no end and will prolong the life of it .
Vauxhall want £12.80 + vat part number 25313359 (not diesel models) for a filter which is a bit steep in my book i wonder why could be they know how blocked they get and are profitering from that ? .
In all dont cheat on replacing the fuel filter it does make a massive difference when replaced .
Also you will need two small plastic clips that hold the filter in the fuel line under pressure .
ALWAYS BUY A NEW PAIR OF CLIPS WHEN REPLACING THE FILTER AS THESE AGE HARDEN AND WILL LEAK .
VAUXHALL USED TO SUPPLY THE CLIPS WITH THE FILTER BUT NO LONGER DO SO .
AS FOR PRICE THEY ARE PENCE SO IF YOU DO REPLACE THE FILTER DO A FULL JOB AND NO PROBLEMS WILL OCCUR OR LEAKS .
