Have you checked the seals on the rear lights have not perished, had the same problem on one car and found it to be the seals.

I've checked the lights (they are brand new) and they appear to be OK

is the seal on the wiper arm ok? thats the usual suspect.

Seal on the wiper arm (ie grommet) is often the cause . You will need to take the wiper arm off and the inner trim to get to it . The grommet sits on top of the rear wiper motor and perishes over time causing a leak .
Another one is the silicon sealer around the quarter glass.Vauxhall put a small bead of this on the glass surface which is not enough to be honest .
To test if it is this put the hose on the top edge of the quarter glass (both sides) and let the water flow down , you will see it trickling down on the inside of the quarter glass from the top .
The quarter glass has screw threads bonded onto it and small nuts to compress it to the bodyshell, they may well need a nip up . BE VERY CAREFUL HOW TIGHT YOU MAKE THEM AS THEY CAN SHEAR OFF .
What i would do is buy some black silicon sealer(holts) then gently undo the nuts and put some sealer underneath . The quarter glass edge has a black thick line all the way round it so you wont see it if you take your time .
When you have done this re-tighten the nuts then put a thin bead all the way around the glass to inner seal it .
You will have to take some rear inner trim out to do this job in the hatch but this is very easy .
This is a common fault on the hatchback but seems to be less of a fault on the saloon version .
IF THE WATER IS FOUND TO BE AT THE SIDES OF THE REAR BOOTWELL IT WILL BE THE QUARTER GLASS ONE OR BOTH DEPENDING WHICH SIDE .
IF IT IS RIGHT AT THE BACK NEAR THE LATCH FOR THE TAILGATE ALONG THAT EDGE IT WILL BE THE GROMMET .
