hi mick...
Dazza cant use his pc at the moment so he asked me to enquire to his alarm fault. he locks the car and leaves it for 20 mins and the alarm will start to go off, and it keeps draining its battery, he has checked all the sensors and cant find a fault anywhere, and he has kept a eye on it and no person is setting the alarm off...
cheers mick

Hi BIGBEN of the norm the bonnet plunger plays up on vectras causing the alarm to go of.
If it has been windy around dazzas area this can also cause it.Make sure the vents are closed off in the car as if they are open and the air flow setting is on the face on the control panel this can also cause it because air is blowing staright through and setting the interior motion sensors off.
As a test you can switch the interior sensors off by pressing the alarm switch before you get out of the car , this will deactivate the interior sensors.
If in doubt consult the owners manual how to do this.Soon as you put the ignition back on the alarm will reset its self back to standard
Tech2 will indicate if one of the door pins or sensors are at fault or any associated wiring.
All door pins boot and bonnet plungers should be in excellant condition plus the screws that hold them in.
Some of the alarms have motion sensors built into the sounder unit so it may seem daft but is the handbrake on fully if windy so the car can not move.
Also the facelift models have a battery back-up in the power sounder unit and this can fail after a long time which might cause the alarm to go off.
If this is the case you will need to buy a new power sounder which is behind the passenger side inner plastic wing arch (not a hard job though).
To be honest a tech2 will be required to find out exactly whats going off ie wipe all the fault codes and then see if it goes off again.
Also if dazza has a raid strut brace they say mount the bonnet sensor/plunger under it keeping it down all the time.
This causes all manor off problems so the plunger has to be re-mounted so the it can activate like normal.I have found that the wiring to the plunger is long enough to re-mount the unit with no problems.
